Privacy Policy

For the Phone Temperature Android app (nl.nordicnode.phonetemp)

Last updated: 25 June 2026  ·  Effective: 25 June 2026

The short, honest version

1. Who we are

Phone Temperature is developed and published by Nordic Node ("we", "us", "our"), the data controller for the limited processing described below.

2. Data stored only on your device

Phone Temperature is offline-first. The core of what the app does happens entirely on your phone, and the resulting data stays on your phone:

Because this data never reaches a server, we have no copy of it, no account profile, and nothing on our side to delete. You can clear all history inside the app at any time.

3. Data collected through third-party services

The only data that leaves your device comes from a small number of Google services used for ads and (optionally) diagnostics.

3.1 Advertising (Google AdMob)

The free version of the app shows ads via Google AdMob. To serve ads, Google may collect and process your device's advertising ID and related ad-interaction and device data.

3.2 Analytics & crash reporting (Firebase — opt-in, off by default)

To help us find and fix bugs, the app can use Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics. This is disabled by default and only collects anything after you switch on "Anonymous analytics & crash reports" in Settings.

3.3 Purchases (Google Play Billing)

The optional one-time "Remove ads" purchase is processed by Google Play Billing. We never see or store your payment details; Google handles the transaction. We only receive whether the purchase is active so the app can remove ads.

4. Data we never collect

Phone Temperature does not access, collect, or transmit any of the following — the corresponding Android permissions are not even declared:

5. Permissions and why

PermissionWhy it's used
POST_NOTIFICATIONS Show overheat alerts and the ongoing background-monitoring notification. Requested only when you enable alerts or background monitoring.
FOREGROUND_SERVICE /
FOREGROUND_SERVICE_SPECIAL_USE
Optional, user-initiated background temperature logging, shown with a clear, persistent notification. It carries no ads.
INTERNET,
ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE
Load ads and the consent form, and (only if you opt in) send anonymous analytics and crash reports.
AD_ID Access the advertising ID used by AdMob for ads.

6. Legal bases for processing (GDPR)

For users in the European Economic Area, the UK, and similar jurisdictions, we rely on:

7. Who we share data with

We do not sell your personal data. The limited data described above is processed by the following service providers, under their own privacy policies:

8. Data retention

9. Security

All network traffic from the app's SDKs (ads, consent, and opt-in analytics) is encrypted in transit using HTTPS. Your temperature history and settings remain on your device and are protected by Android's app sandbox.

10. Your choices and rights

You are always in control:

Depending on where you live (e.g. under the GDPR or the CCPA/CPRA), you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or port your personal data, to object to or restrict processing, and to withdraw consent. Because the app keeps your temperature data only on your device and we hold no account, most of these rights are exercised directly on your device. For any data processed by Google, you can also use Google's own controls. To make a request or ask a question, email nordicnode26@gmail.com. We do not sell or "share" personal information as defined under California law.

11. Children's privacy

Phone Temperature is not directed to children. It is intended for users aged 13 and older, and ads are configured as not child-directed (TAG_FOR_CHILD_DIRECTED_TREATMENT_FALSE). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13.

12. International data transfers

The third-party services above are operated by Google and may process data on servers outside your country, including in the United States. Google applies appropriate safeguards (such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses) for such transfers under its privacy policy.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will revise the "Last updated" date above and, for material changes, provide a more prominent notice where appropriate. The current version always lives at this URL.
