Privacy Policy — PhoneCheck Pro

Last updated: 20 April 2026

This privacy policy explains how PhoneCheck Pro ("the app", "we", "our") handles information when you use the Android application distributed on Google Play. The app is developed and maintained by Nordic Node (the "developer").

1. Summary

2. Information the app accesses

2.1 Device information

To generate a diagnostic report the app reads technical information available from the Android operating system, such as:

This information is used only to perform and display the requested tests and is saved locally as part of the test-session history on your device.

2.2 Permissions requested

Permissions are only requested when you start the specific test that requires them. You can deny or revoke any permission at any time from Android's system settings; the rest of the app will continue to work.

2.3 Shop details (Pro tier)

Pro subscribers can optionally enter a shop name, address, telephone number, technician name, and a shop logo so that these details appear on exported PDF reports. This information is stored locally on your device and is only included in reports you export yourself.

2.4 Counter-mode voucher (Pro tier)

When a Pro-subscribing repair shop generates a Counter-mode QR code, the QR payload contains the shop name, optional address and phone number, technician name, and an expiry timestamp, signed with an offline signature. When a customer's device scans this QR, the shop details are stored locally for the duration of the session only and removed automatically when the session expires.

3. Data storage and retention

All test results, device snapshots, shop details, and counter-mode sessions are stored in an on-device SQLite database and in the app's private preferences. They never leave your phone unless you explicitly share an exported PDF or CSV file through Android's share sheet.

You can delete this information by:

4. Advertising (free tier)

The free version of the app displays advertisements through Google AdMob. AdMob is provided by Google Ireland Ltd. Depending on your consent and region it may collect data such as your advertising identifier, approximate IP-based location, device type, and interaction with ads.

Before any personalised ads are shown, the app presents a Google User Messaging Platform (UMP) consent form in line with GDPR and the EU Digital Markets Act. You can change or withdraw your consent at any time from the in-app setting Settings → Privacy → Ad privacy options.

Google's privacy policy is available at policies.google.com/privacy and its advertising practices are described at policies.google.com/technologies/ads.

Users who purchase the "Remove Ads" one-time product or an active Pro subscription never see advertisements. For Pro users the ad SDK is not initialised on cold start.

5. Purchases and subscriptions

In-app purchases (Remove Ads, PhoneCheck Pro Monthly, PhoneCheck Pro Yearly) are processed by Google Play Billing. The developer receives only the purchase token and product identifier needed to validate your entitlement on-device. Payment methods, names, and billing addresses are handled by Google and are governed by its own policies.

6. Third-party libraries

The app is built with the Expo and React Native frameworks and includes open-source libraries. The libraries that can interact with data or servers are limited to:

7. Children

PhoneCheck Pro is a professional diagnostic tool and is not directed at children under 13. The app does not knowingly collect personal information from children.

8. Your rights (GDPR / UK GDPR)

Because the developer does not store personal data on a server, there is no personal data held by the developer that could be exported or erased on request. For data held locally by the app you are in direct control: uninstalling the app or clearing its storage removes everything. For data processed by Google (ads, billing, consent) please use the rights and controls offered by Google, including the in-app "Ad privacy options" and your Google account privacy settings.

9. Security

Data at rest is stored in the app's private storage, which Android sandboxes from other applications. Counter-mode QR vouchers are signed with an HMAC so that an altered voucher is rejected by scanning devices. No encryption at rest is applied to locally stored reports; you should treat an unlocked device as you would any other.

10. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be published at the same URL and the "Last updated" date above will be revised. Material changes will also be announced in the app's release notes.
