This Privacy Policy explains how Nordic Node ("we", "us", "our") handles information in connection with the Bonjar mobile application (the "App"). We built Bonjar to be privacy-friendly: the receipts you scan and the data you extract from them stay on your device. We do not run our own servers that store your receipts, and we do not sell your personal data.
When you scan or import a receipt or invoice, the App may store the following on your device only:
This information is kept in a local database and in local files on your device. It is not transmitted to Nordic Node and is not accessible to us. Automatic system backup of this data is disabled, so your library is not copied off the device through Android Auto Backup.
To scan a receipt, the App uses your device camera through the standard Android document-scanner and image-capture components, or lets you import an existing image or PDF. The text on the receipt is recognised using Google ML Kit Text Recognition, which runs directly on your device. The captured images and the recognised text are processed locally and are not sent to our servers. The App does not request a persistent camera permission; the camera is only accessed through the on-demand system scanner/capture flow.
To understand how the App is used and to fix problems, we use two Google Firebase services:
These services do not collect the contents of your receipts. Analytics and crash collection are enabled by default, but you can turn them off at any time in the App's Settings. When turned off, the App stops sending new analytics and crash data.
The free version of Bonjar shows advertisements provided by Google AdMob. To serve ads, AdMob and its partners may access your device's Advertising ID and related information (such as device type, IP address, and general interaction with ads). This may be used to show you personalised or non-personalised ads and to measure ad performance and prevent fraud.
Consent (EEA, UK, and Switzerland): If you are located in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, the App uses Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP) consent screen to ask for your choice before serving personalised ads. You can review or change your choice at any time via the privacy / ad-consent option in the App's Settings. You can also reset your Advertising ID or opt out of ad personalisation in your device's system settings (Settings → Google → Ads).
Purchasing the one-time Pro upgrade removes ads from the App.
Bonjar offers a one-time in-app purchase ("Pro") processed through Google Play Billing. Your payment is handled entirely by Google — we do not receive or store your name, card number, or other payment details. The App only receives a confirmation of your entitlement so it can unlock the Pro features on your device. Refunds and payment questions are handled through Google Play.
The Pro version offers an optional app lock using biometric authentication (fingerprint/face) or your device screen-lock (PIN, pattern, or password). This is handled entirely by your device's operating system. Your biometric data never leaves your device and is never accessible to the App or to us.
Some processing is carried out by the following third parties, each under their own privacy policy:
| Service | Purpose | Privacy policy |
|---|---|---|
| Google Firebase (Analytics & Crashlytics) | Usage analytics, crash/stability reporting | firebase.google.com/support/privacy |
| Google AdMob | In-app advertising (free version) | AdMob & privacy |
| Google Play Billing / Google Play | In-app purchase processing | policies.google.com/privacy |
| Google ML Kit | On-device receipt text recognition & scanning | ML Kit terms |
Receipt data and settings stay on your device until you delete individual items or uninstall the App; uninstalling removes the App's local database and files. Analytics and crash data held by Firebase are retained according to Google's standard retention periods. Purchase records are retained by Google Play.
Where consent is the legal basis (for example personalised ads in the EEA/UK/CH), processing relies on your consent (which you can withdraw). Analytics and crash reporting rely on your in-app choice and our legitimate interest in improving and securing the App.
Bonjar is intended for general audiences and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us so we can address it.
Your receipt data is stored within the App's private storage area on your device. Data transmitted to third-party services (analytics, crash reports, ads, billing) is sent over encrypted connections. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your information.
Bonjar is available in multiple countries. Third-party providers such as Google may process data (for example analytics, crash reports, and advertising data) on servers located outside your country, including outside the EEA, subject to appropriate safeguards under their own privacy policies.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you within the App. Continued use of the App after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
