Baromir — Privacy Policy

Last updated: 14 July 2026

Baromir (“the app”) is developed by Nordic Node. This policy explains exactly what the app does and does not do with your data. It is written to match the app’s actual behaviour — nothing more, nothing less.

Summary

Baromir is a barometer and altimeter. Everything it measures — pressure readings, altitude, your calibration reference, your settings — stays on your device. Nordic Node has no server, no account system, and never receives your measurements or location. The only data that leaves your device is what the Google AdMob advertising SDK and Google Play billing need to function, plus — only if you consent — optional Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics data sent to Google, as described below.

Data stored on your device (never sent to us)

The app keeps the following locally on your device only. It is never transmitted to Nordic Node and never leaves the device except through Android’s own optional backup, which you control:

You can erase all of this at any time by clearing the app’s storage or uninstalling the app.

Location

If you choose GPS altitude or GPS calibration, the app requests location permission (ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION / ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATION). Location is used solely to read your current GPS altitude, on your device, at the moment you use that feature. The app:

If you never use a GPS feature, the app never requests location.

Advertising (Google AdMob)

Unless you purchase “Baromir Pro”, the app shows a single banner advertisement supplied by Google AdMob. To serve ads, the AdMob SDK may collect and process a device advertising identifier and related technical data. This is handled by Google, not by Nordic Node. See Google’s policies: https://policies.google.com/technologies/ads.

Consent (EEA/UK). In the European Economic Area, the UK, and Switzerland, the app shows Google’s User Messaging Platform (UMP) consent form before requesting ads, and you can change or withdraw your choice at any time under Settings → Ad privacy options. Where consent is not granted, ads are non-personalised.

If you buy “Baromir Pro”, the app shows no ads and does not initialise the ad SDK.

Purchases (Google Play Billing)

“Baromir Pro” is a one-time, non-subscription purchase that removes ads. The purchase is processed entirely by Google Play; Nordic Node never receives your payment details. The app stores only a local flag indicating entitlement, which it re-verifies against Google Play. Refunds and purchase records are governed by Google Play’s terms.

Analytics & crash reporting (Firebase, consent-gated)

Baromir uses Google Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics to understand app usage and help diagnose crashes. Both are off by default on every install. They are switched on only after you give consent through the same Google consent form (UMP/GDPR) described above under Advertising, and you can withdraw that consent at any time under Settings → Ad privacy options — collection stops again as soon as you do.

When enabled by your consent, Firebase Analytics sends Google a per-install app-instance identifier and usage events (for example, which screens or features you use). Firebase Crashlytics sends Google crash logs, stack traces, and basic device state (model, OS version, memory) when the app crashes or behaves unexpectedly. This data is processed by Google, not Nordic Node, under Google’s own policies: https://firebase.google.com/support/privacy.

Your barometer readings, altitude, calibration reference, and settings are not part of this — they remain on-device only, as described above, no matter what you choose for analytics/crash reporting consent.

What we do NOT collect

Baromir has no accounts or logins and collects no personal information (name, email, contacts, precise identity). Nordic Node itself operates no server that receives data from the app — every data point described above (advertising ID, and, where consented, analytics and crash reports) is collected directly by Google’s SDKs under your consent choice, not by Nordic Node.

Children

The app is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect data from them.

If the app’s data behaviour changes, this policy will be updated and the “Last updated” date above will change.
